I might never sew my binding by hand again, thanks to Rita of Red Pepper Quilts. I have always admired her crisp, neat bindings and all by machine. I thought I would give her method a try ......... so I reread her Binding Tutorial and gave it a shot. It works like a dream. I didn't bother zig zaging the edges or pinning anything, like she does, but it worked anyway. I love it.

So after practicing project monogamy I completed this quilt....binding and all, in twelve days. So satisfying...but sorry Chawne I can feel my wandering ways calling my name.....although it is so nice to have one finish for 2011.
Quilt Back
This quilt is so incredible, I'm so excited to start the quilt along!

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your tutorial and I'll be off to check the binding tutorial - I haven't picked up the courage to do a full blown machine binding yet but I've been using the basics that I picked up from Sharon Schambers binding tutorials to get lovely sharp corners - I must now seriously think about taking the next step

ReplyDeletealso? i think monogamy is an every-so-often thing. piling up ideas-in-progress is great, but sometimes the "victory" of a finish can help both with motivating more finishes and generating new ideas. i'd call your foray into monogamy a success!

ReplyDeleteWell done in the quick finish. Looking forward to the tutorial. I get most of it but I think the joins of the blocks need the wadding to be cut just a bit in so they aren't in the the seams and not so thick. Am I on the right track? Eagerly awaiting the info.
