I never thought I would..... but I went to my very first ever, Modern Quilt Guild meeting this week.
Leanne from She Can Quilt put together a very informative presentation about the online quilting community. She gave everyone all kinds of wonderful technical info.
Leanne gets involved in lots of swaps and bees so she started her presentation with her wonderful Weekender Bag full of mini quilts and such, made by many of you. Everyone was wowed....I don't know why I didn't think to take pictures.
Back in the studio, I'm still in the middle of reorganizing. Now that I have so many amazing design walls, I decided to work on my photography a little.
I recently looked into having some of my quilts photographed professionally, but also want to have a better setup at home. So, when one wants to know how to do something.....the Internet can be our best friend. I found Holly Knott's site very informative.

So in the middle of my crazy busy week I've been experimenting.....I have such a habit of getting carried away. |
It was fun to go to a guild meeting in real life I think. I sure love the difference your lights are making to your pictures.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the link to Holly's photographing quilts site. I have been wondering what to do to improve my own photos. I have enjoyed watching your work appear on the design walls. Solids are an area that I am beginning to explore and your work makes them look so inviting. Far more so than the folded fabric on my shelf!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reference to Holly Knott's site- it is really helpful.
ReplyDeleteWhy did you not think that you will go to a guild meeting? You have such a lot to share?
Thanks for the photography info and link . Perfect timing for me as I am lacking in that area of expertise.
ReplyDeleteWill you be giving that modern quilting style a go? No doubt you would be inspiring us all with your twist on that style.
Mari,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are having so much fun! I love seeing a sneak peek into your studio. I'm also super impressed with your design walls. Seeing all this has got me daydreaming of what my next studio may look like. I also agree with you that sometimes it takes several tries to get things set up just right....

Sounds like a great guild meeting! I wish I could have gone! Maybe I'll have to make a goal of getting to all the Canadian modern quilt guild meetings... ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the link! More than ever photography skills are a must...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the photo link! I'm going to "build my own" next week if I can find the right lights! I also went to the inaugural meeting of the Saskatoon Modern Quilt Guild! Never thought I'd be a joiner!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt - I'm off to my second Modern Quilt Meeting in Prth, Australia today.
ReplyDeleteHugs - Lurline.
