Going to Quilt Con....WHAT TO WEAR??? WHAT TO WEAR???

Off to Quilt Con next week and my biggest concern is WHAT TO WEAR

Does that tell you anything about me? I just might have mentioned previously, that my mind turns to mush when it comes to packing.

And on top of that, a Picture Link up!!!!! Like so many of you, I hate having my picture taken....there's very few of me sprinkled through out my blog, or anywhere else,  for that matter. So here goes......

Hmm, this isn't working all that well.....

Alright, a couple more....I think you get the picture.

Enough with the pictures.....Now, five things you might not know about me.

  • I loose my glasses twenty times a day.
  • I have no sense of direction.
  • I'm so visual that if someone gives me directions orally....it simply does not compute.
  • I've never taken any quilting classes before.....this is a first.
  • I was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada as a little girl.
So, if you see an almost 60 year old blond, with a lost look on her face looking for her glasses.....that would be me. And if you try to give me directions and I give you a blank stare, really, it's nothing personal.

Oh, by the way I don't read maps that well either..... good thing I'm travelling with Leanne (She Can Quilt) or I might not get any further than the airport.

The other day, I took this picture of my little, darling girl, wearing the new hat I just finished knitting for her. See all that snow????

So, just what are you all wearing in Austin this time of year.....as you can see, it's just a little cooler around here.

  2. Lovely to see you! I'm going to try really hard this year NOT to get jealous of everyone going to Quilt Con.... Looks like you're going to have so much fun! Loving the sound of the road trip with Leanne too :-)

  3. What a fun post! You look fabulous and you will do just fine. We all get little lost a times and loose things every once in a while. But oh what fun it is to find what you have been looking for at last!
Have fun at Quilt Con. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

  5. You're so pretty, I'm surprised you don't like your picture taken. It's not like you're old and wrinkly like me (who also hates pictures of themselves, I might add!) Have fun and don't get lost....although it's good we're not traveling anywhere together or we'd both be lost! I'm as bad as you with directions!

  6. Great pictures! I am so jealous you get to go to Quilt Con...if you decide to go to Road 2 CA next year, I could guide you through the aisles, and hold your glasses...lol

  8. I am totally surprised at your picture. Funny how we imagine people and then they turn out to be totally different. I saw you as very tall and with salt and pepper hair, flying all over the place. And much older looking! You look fabulous and now I will know who I am writing to.
    Have fun in Texas!

  11. Hi Marianne - I just discovered your blog while looking for design wall tutorials, and I just had to tell you how much I'm drawn to your work. Almost like we're kindred spirits or something (I know - that sounds really corny). Our taste in quilting is so similar, although your work is so much better than mine, my mental vision of what I want to create appears in your work. But I had to laugh when I read you post, because, while we're so similar in our quilting taste, I...

1 - Never loose my glasses (because they're always on my face)
2 - Have a good sense of direction (my husband relies on me to navigate when we travel)
3 - OK - I like visual directions better than oral, so we're alike on this one...
4 - I've taken quilting classes, but only at MQX a few years ago, and that was new to me then.
5 - I was born in Canada and moved to the US (not the Netherlands) when I was a young girl.

Hope you enjoy your trip to Texas - wish I was going too. Nice to meet you and I look forward to following your blog.

  18. Hi - I live in Austin and can tell you that you will see jeans worn nearly anywhere you might go. We're very casual here. I went to the opera (Sun matinee) two weeks ago and people were dressed in everything from fabulous designer outfits to jeans & a jacket to very funky (speaking of which: if you're in the market for a tattoo, this is the place to get it - seems as if half the populace has at least one). Temps will be all over the place next week (from cold low 40s to nice low 70s) with even a chance of rain (YAY!). It's really exciting to have the first QuiltCon right here - I'm taking advantage of it by doing some volunteering and taking some classes, so I don't miss anything. Oh - and if you get lost, just ask anyone for help. Austin is filled with nice people, including the most polite drivers I've encountered anywhere in the US (seriously)

    1. Thanks...you've been so helpful, but I think I'll pass on the tattoo. I hope you enjoy QuiltCon.

      Thanks again

  19. I am wondering what to wear too, so I will just stick to capris and t-shirts. If its cold, I'll put on a hoodie. Can't wait!
