What Angle are You Coming From?

Once again, I have completely underestimated the visual impact of this piece.

The angles and mostly solid colours are producing a stronger piece than I expected.

This morning I was just playing with some different layouts...
Layout #1
Layout # 2

Layout # 3

Layout # 4

Now see what happens when I rotate the photos....everything looks totally different to me. Just hanging a piece in a different direction changes your perspective on it.

I'm not sure where this is taking me....ah, the joys of improv!!

  3. The third vertical photo (second to last) I like best. Have fun continuing to play!

Mmm, layout #2 is also awesome.

  4. Ha ha.. I agree that layout 3 is best, but I like it horizontal.

  6. I wondered how this was going to come together. Of these I like version 3 the best, but I think it is because I find it the most "calm" of the layouts. As you were inspired by your migrane, calm may be the opposite of what you intend and I wonder which one you like best. Will you join them or put something else in between?

  7. This is wonderful! I like all of the layouts but love the vertical ones. My head is in a tangle trying to work out which way each piece has changed in each layout! I an always so impressed with your work and thank you for being so generous in sharing it. How big will it be finished?

  8. OMG! Really I don't know what to say. I love this. I was struck the most by #1 in both sets for some reason that hook look in the center is striking even more than the rest. I am compelled to say I wish I was near you so some of this wow-ness would maybe rub off on me. I can't seem to even cut into the fabric much less get something like this.
    Wow!

  11. Once again, you amaze me. This quilt is just WOW in any direction. Every time I see your work, I get inspired to go and start cutting and sewing. Improv quilting, and, not having a specific design in mind, is, well, just fun.

  12. Too beautiful for words...
All variations are amazing, I specially love the two last ones, but how can you choose? Wonderful work!

  13. These look fabulous!! Have you considered leaving them as a diptych? You could add hanging sleeves to all eight sides so the way they're displayed can be rotated.
