Leaving My Options Open.....Aura I Complete

I made up my mind, table runner it is.....or so I thought.

That lasted all of one day....
Table runners get all sorts of things put on them...making me just a little extremely nervous!!

I put binding on the other panel and was planning to hang it in the hallway....the perfect spot, which turned out to be not so perfect. So, just what is my problem, anyway? When hung, these pieces need to be viewed from a distance, for the most impact and the hallway just wasn't doing it.

My other problem...they are more dynamic together, than they are individually. You might have noticed, I'm just a wee bit fussy, okay a lot fussy....I admit it.

So from table runner to diptych....... or triptych perhaps. I really do intend to make more of these. If I make enough of them, surely one will end up, as a table runner, spills and all (I'm just not quite there yet).

I think, I might just have the perfect spot to hang these back in Alberta....but then again, you've heard me say that before.

Well, if that doesn't work...I still have the table runner plan.

  1. Makes a great table runner and part of a diptych - how about runner and hanging in the same room - where no-one is allowed to spill anything??

  2. They are quite lovely. The quilting complements the abstract design. Did you mark it or use tape to get the lines so perfect? I also like the width of the binding with this design and am guessing it's half an inch. It really frames the quilt; just the right impact.

    1. Thanks Ann....I mark as little as possible, the occasional line or two. The edge of my presser foot is my best friend.

  3. When you showed a picture of your studio (I think, it was) the other day, they were both hanging together and looked FABULOUS. But they do make a very good table runner as well, but only with absolutely no spills! Which is why I refrain from a table runner/table cloth so far :-)

  4. Love them both and especially together. Maybe a triptych after all? I do think they look stunning together. All you need is a wall with a view ( not out the window, onto the quilt of course :-)

  5. Gee boy you are a dagg! I love reading your posts complete with honest dilemmas. Your work is stunning and I think it looks fantastic on the table. It will wash. I have quilted runners on my table and they get washed regularly. There are furry tell tale clues as to what the cat gets up to when we are out too

  7. It is absolutely gorgeous as a table runner. Maaybe you should get great photos and have them printed on panels at Spoonflower or a similar fabric printer to make table runners.

  8. I have pieces that I purposedly remove when the table is being used. Qith my kidlets, they'd certainly ruin them and I like to look at them too. It is be best of both worlds for me.

  9. That piece is stunning on your table. I'd keep it there, and you can always spray a little Scotchguard on it. Liquids would bead on the surface, and never penetrate the fabric.

  10. Wellll...if you're having such a hard time figuring out what to do with them, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands...haha!

Seriously, though, I love making table runners because they're fast. BUT, we have 2 longhaired kitties that think I make them especially for them to lay on (sigh).

I love them as table runners and they would also be very impressive hung on a wall :)

  11. It looks stunning on your table and is washable. Also I noticed that you are a quilter and love to create and small pieces take so little time and I am fairly certain you have a lot of fabric available in event of a permanent stain.

  12. I so understand your angst at using this quilt for a table runner. Hazardous duty for something so beautiful. I vote for a triptych. Three would be stunning as a wall hanging/

  13. They are so gorgeous, together or singly. I sure understand your not wanting spills on them. Maybe you can use them for show but take them off when food is around! Or children! I just love them and if you need a wall, I could easily volunteer one. (Wishful thinking!)

  15. Do you use your fireplace much? They might look good over the fireplace (which can be seen in the background of your photos). They are beautiful!

    1. It's actually electric so that could work but I hate to cover up the beautiful stone plus I think the size isn't quite right....thanks.

  19. Love the way you have pieced the bold colours together. Have you followed a pattern or is it your own design.
