I was on a mission to get Rachel's quilt finished, photographed and delivered.
As you can see....I wasn't the only one on a mission. My adorable granddaughters are a force to be reckoned with. A trip to the Zoo was in the cards as well. |

It's even more fantastic in person. I am sure glad I got to see this one before you gift it. Your niece is a lucky woman. And the zoo looks like it was great fun too.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks great and the trip to the zoo sounds like fun :)
ReplyDeleteStunning quilt.
ReplyDeletenothing like a bit of determination to get things done! lucky Rachel!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
DeleteGorgeous quilt. Great colors and of course the quilting is over-the-top fantastic!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I just love your quilts. This one is no exception! :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic as usual. I think my favorite part is the black and white wedge like stripe fabric. Very bold and graphic. And the little touches of red. Sweet granddaughters too. Looks like they can keep you busy.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt turned out so well! I have enjoyed watching your progress! Thanks doe sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! I love how each block is so unique and different...and so much detail in the piecing! Love the colors...and love the quilting! Darling granddaughters!
ReplyDeleteRachel is getting my quilt???? Aww, darnit. I love this so much. You are truly inspirational, Marianne! And your grandgirls are just adorable. We have a 3 3/4 year old who lives nearby and spends lots of time with us. So much fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a quilt...it's a WORK OF ART!!!! Lucky Rachel :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Colleen....I thought it looked rather artsy myself.
DeleteAnne said everything I wanted to say! Favorite fabric, love the red, darling girls!
ReplyDeletePS My local modern quilt guild is hooking up with the national (international?) modern quilt guild, and raising our dues from $25 to $40 for the "priviledge". There has been a lot of mumbling about what exactly we are going to get in terms of any benefits with the national/international organization. Talk then turned to QuiltCon, and I shared some of the things mentioned on your blog, namely the board members all having their quilts in the slow, but other fabulous (namely yours) quilts being rejected, and what we perceive3 to be the tendancy of the "central committee" to want to make all the decisions without input from the members as a whole, etc. While the local modern guild had over 150 members, only about 50 have renewed their membership over these concerns. Thought you would be interested to hear this.
Thanks Marsha, I'm glad you enjoyed the quilt.
DeleteTo clarify....I found it confusing that the juried quilts were mixed together with the quilts for exhibit only. Even though I was disappointed that my quilt was rejected I really did enjoy seeing the quilts that were in the show.
As for the fees I think they are quite reasonable...We have to remember the modern quilt guild is still in its infancy and there are bound to be growing pains.
This quilt is fantastic! I just love the bold graphic lines and the COLOR!!! Your work is simply amazing...
ReplyDeleteWOW your quilt is amazing, I love how you design the blocks for your quilts. Cute little grandchildren .Our grandies are so precious.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great quilt. As the others I'm so impressed.
ReplyDeleteThe graphic design reminds me of (and please don't feel insulted, it's no way the intention ;)) of the years in the beginning of the television with what we called "test screens" first in black and white and later in color.
Thanks for taking us along your designing and making this fabulous art of work. gr. Carin W.
Thanks Carin
DeleteThis is STUNNING!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous finish! I love the quilt itself, and all the concentric quilting really brings it to life. :D
ReplyDeleteFantastic, just absolutely fantastic. Rachel is one lucky duck.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Quilt!
