Would you look at the size of those Bobbins.....I
believe they hold about 80% more thread than a regular bobbin, of course I can't find exactly where it says that, but trust me it's wonderful.
Nine blocks quilted......
Three to go.....
I just threw these up on the design wall randomly.....lets see where they take me.
I did rather slip that new machine part in, didn't I. Did I really neeeed a new machine....well, not really.
I saw this machine at a Quilt Show in Victoria, in May and had been obsessing dreaming about it ever since. I took a little of my, still to come, inheritance money and there you have it. My Mom had a Bernina when I was growing up....I can't help but think of her when I'm sewing with it.
So, thanks, Mom.
Hello Mariquilts,
ReplyDeleteI love your quilting and the quilts - and I was browsing your site for quite some time during my breakfast. I found your tutorials - from 2011 and 2012 which I will study now to maybe make similar blocks. I like so much the modern aspect of your quilts. Anneliese
Hi Marianne, I bought a Bernina 750 last year for similar reasons after my mom died. I'm still learning how to use all the options! I hop you'll continue to share about it.
ReplyDeleteThanks.....I love it.
DeleteCongrats on the Bernina score!
ReplyDeleteThanks
Deletegood idea! you deserve a new machine for all those quilts you make! xo
ReplyDeleteTell about the bobbins? where? do they actually fit Berninas?
ReplyDeleteThey will only fit some of the newer models of Bernina as the bobbin case would have to be larger as well.
DeleteLooking good Marianne. Hope to see you & the finished quilt at the next guild meeting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ioleen....you never know that might actually happen.
DeleteAm so glad you are "picking up the pieces" and so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt and the machine is very cool too.
ReplyDeleteHi from Merritt, BC. I looked up your QAYG tutorials and they are wonderful. I was wondering how I could quilt a King sized quilt in pieces and join them together and I think this is the answer! Can you use those over sized bobbins on your Bernina?
ReplyDeleteBobbins that hold more thread would be wonderful! I hate when I run out of bobbin thread. I usually notice after I have sew for miles. Grrr!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the picking up the pieces quilt..and u and I both know that your mother would be thrilled to know that she bought you a new machine...yeah!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new machine! Those are some big bobbins which have to be great for machine quilting! I just bought another machine just like the one I own - Pfaff 1475CD - for a back up. I posted on my blog last week about what I went thru with the ebay seller with this machine and to make a long story short it is at my repair man's shop right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm considering buying the Bernina 710. Do you have any pros and cons you'd be willing to share?
ReplyDeleteI am Bernina owner, too. An older model, indeed."green with envy" for the big throat.
ReplyDeleteHave been quilting on the same Bernina, a Virtuosa 153, for ten plus years and still love it as much as the day I got it. Congratulations on your purchase!
ReplyDeletewhat a beauty! I have been looking at a 750!
ReplyDeleteI loved the blocks as you were making them, but to my eye, the black and white joining strips isolate each block, instead of unifying them. Now that could very well be your intent, and if so, you have succeeded very well indeed.
