I thought if I submitted at least three quilts to Quilt Con.....hopefully one would be accepted. And there you have it one was. The quilt I was really wanting to go....is going!!!! I haven't shared this quilt on my blog to date, as I was testing one of the scores in Sherri Lynn Wood's upcoming book "The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters".
I loved making this quilt and my only regret was being unable to share my process with you, along the way. But rest assured I took plenty of pictures throughout. Today I will just give you a couple of photos, but there will be some process posts coming up.

ReplyDeleteThanks Kitty. Ah.....the two that didn't make it. I submitted Ripple Effect I and Ripple Effect Il as well. Ripple Effect II won first prize in the AQS modern category for piecing and traveled for a year but didn't make it into Quilt Con.....so one never knows how these things go.

ReplyDeleteWow!!! Oh, WOW!! How captivating! It looks like a photo mosaic - in fact, at first I thought it WAS a mosaic of several photos until I looked closer and saw the "joins" of the panels. Just absolutely stunning.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You piece is very powerful! Your quilt is an original design (how refreshing) whereas many others I have seen that were accepted were very simple designs or else made from a pattern(what the heck is up with that?).
ReplyDeleteAll three of mine were rejects because I was one of the many that was not aware that they were only looking for small pieces that were made with solid fabrics and two of my pieces were made with prints. All three of mine for Sherry's book were rejected too. I am batting a thousand! (that is a reference to the batting average for baseball. I am not sure you would know this.)
I can't wait to see your piece in Austin.
Don't be discouraged or take any rejections personally. The important thing is that you are creating quilts that speak to your own heart! Your contributions to the improv handbook were much appreciated and the online gallery will be posted soon!
